Glomerular Diseases-Lupus nephritis & Vasculitis

Glomerular diseases are conditions that affect the glomeruli—tiny filtering units within the kidneys responsible for removing waste and excess fluids from the blood. When these structures become inflamed or damaged, it can lead to proteinuria (protein in urine), hematuria (blood in urine), swelling, and eventually, kidney failure if left untreated.

Lupus Nephritis

Lupus Nephritis is a serious complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues. In lupus nephritis, the immune system mistakenly targets the kidneys, causing inflammation and impaired kidney function.

Vasculitis-Associated Kidney Disease

Renal vasculitis involves inflammation of the blood vessels in the kidneys, leading to impaired blood supply and kidney damage. It’s commonly associated with diseases like ANCA-associated vasculitis (Granulomatosis with polyangiitis or Microscopic polyangiitis).
